 About Susitna Cattery

Susitna Havanas is a small cattery located in South Central Alaska. Our females have only one litter each year. We feel that this keeps them healthy and in good condition. The kittens are raised in our bedroom, underfoot and handled often so they are very people friendly.

Susitna Havanas Cattery, is registered with both TICA and CFA. Our kittens and cats have shown very well in both Alaska and the lower 48. We ship kittens anywhere in the US. Remember, we are as close to you as your nearest major airport.

About Havana Cats

The Havana, ( Havana Brown in CFA), is a very curious, very active, friendly cat. He has a soft, short, chocolate brown coat that looks and feels like Mink. He is a cat who wants to be where he can participate in whatever his human companion may be doing. Read the newspaper and he will sit in the middle of it. Work the computer and he will help you type. If you want a lay around cat, the Havana is not for you.

The Susitna Name

Susitna is the Athabaskan word for "Sleeping Lady." Mt. Susitna lies north west of Anchorage, Alaska and looks like a woman lying on her back. The legend varies, but is basically is as follows: An Indian princess loved a boy from the wrong side of the river. Her father did not approve and turned her into a mountain. And there she sleeps to this day.
